Our daughter Laura has been training with Coach Woody for almost four years and she will continue her individual sessions with him during her collegiate soccer career.  Laura currently plays in the WPSL with the Millburn Magic and will play soccer for Wesleyan University (Middleton, CT) in the fall of 2009.  Coach Woody has made Laura a better all-around player and we have recommended him to other players, both male and female, who want to improve their game.

Woody is a natural teacher who quickly identifies the skill level of each student.  He customizes his lessons to the needs of the individual player and his lessons are never boring.  He creates an unlimited repertoire of games and drills that work on the technical and tactical points of the game. He combines constructive commentary with positive reinforcement as he looks for every opportunity to build the student’s confidence both with and without the ball.  Although he works Laura hard, she looks forward to her sessions with Woody because the lessons are productive and fun!

Woody’s background as both a field player and a keeper make him highly qualified to teach any position in the game.  He understands the attacking mentality of a forward as well as the mindset of a defender.  Woody often plays in goal as he teaches Laura not only how to finish a ball, but how the goalie might defend against a play.  Without exception, Woody uses each lesson to deepen Laura’s love and knowledge of the game.

Woody is loyal, reliable, hard-working and dedicated to his students.  He travels approximately an hour for his lessons with Laura and he has seen a few of Laura’s club games and incorporated areas of improvement into his subsequent sessions.  We appreciate Woody’s commitment to our daughter and his enthusiasm for teaching a game that he obviously loves.
